OTHER EVENTS.
 
Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. (the “Company”) announced on August 30, 2006 that it has been notified by the Nasdaq Stock Market that the Company is in compliance with Nasdaq’s requirements for continued listing. Accordingly, the Company’s delisting hearing before the Nasdaq Listing Qualifications Panel is no longer necessary and has been cancelled.

A copy of the press release issued by the Company on August 30, 2006 announcing this notice from the Nasdaq Stock Market is filed as Exhibit 99.1 to this report and is incorporated herein by reference.
