BRASKEM PLACES US$500 MILLION NOTE ISSUE
São Paulo, May 30, 2008 - Braskem (BOVESPA: BRKM3, BRKM5, BRKM6; NYSE: BAK; LATIBEX: XBRK), the leading company in the thermoplastic resins industry in Latin America and third-largest resin producer in the Americas, announces the placement of US$500 million of its 7.250% Notes due 2018, priced at 99.127% of the principal amount which results in a yield to maturity of 7.375% .
According to Carlos Fadigas, Vice-President of Finance and Investor Relations at Braskem, with the issuance of these notes, Braskem will amortize a significant portion of the bridge loan contracted to acquire the petrochemical assets of the Ipiranga Group.
Braskem, a world-class Brazilian petrochemical company, is the leader in the thermoplastic resins industry in Latin America, and is the third-largest resins producer in the Americas. The company operates 19 manufacturing plants located throughout Brazil, and has annual production capacity of more than 11 million tons of petrochemical and chemical products. |
