Rockwell Automation Helps Australian Manufacturing Collaboration Produce More Than 100 Million Masks in Record Time

By: 3BL Media

SOURCE: Rockwell Automation

DESCRIPTION:

As global demand for ethically-made, high-quality surgical masks continues to soar, an Australian mask-making effort has hit the 100-million-mask milestone thanks to the support provided by Rockwell Automation.

In the early days of the pandemic, Foodmach, an advanced engineering-to-order company and Med-Con, a mask manufacturer, were able to take the original machine mechanics and modernize them to include the latest control and automation technology from Rockwell Automation. Together, they built seven new surgical mask-making machines in just 14 weeks. Today, business remains strong for Med-Con as the company now looks to expand operations.

“Med-Con was originally producing about 50,000 masks per week, but with the new machines, that number exceeds 3 million face masks per week. This is nothing short of extraordinary in terms of the compressed timeframe,” said Bruno Bello, business advisor, AMTIL – an industry partner to the Australian Government’s Entrepreneurs program.
