Naz Khan (Instagram: Digitalnazkhan) is a prime example of how influencer marketing and brand promotion can become a successful career path. Based in The Netherlands, Khan has been an influencer on Instagram for years now and knows the ins and outs of the business. In a recent conversation he shared his experiences of becoming a fashion influencer for some well-known global brands such as Zara Man Jack & Jones UK, lifestyle brand Lush, clothing brands River Island and H&M, and many more.

Being an influencer means having a significant presence on social media platforms, particularly on Instagram, with a large number of followers. Influencers have the power to influence their followers' opinions, purchasing decisions, and lifestyle choices. It can also mean being an expert in a particular industry, such as fashion or menswear, and having a considerable following who look up to the influencer for inspiration and advice. It also requires consistency in creating quality content, building engagement with the audience, and being able to successfully partner with brands to promote their products or services.

For Khan, one of the biggest challenges has been breaking into the world of menswear influencer marketing. After Khan started his Instagram account, he began posting photos of his daily activities like going to the gym, etc. Soon, Khan started receiving messages from brands asking him to promote their brands.

Says Naz Khan: “The response was overwhelming. I was amazed at how much engagement my promotions generated. My followers loved the brands I partnered with and appreciated the authenticity in my approach. The response was so positive that I noticed a significant increase in my follower count.”

Khan went on to gain more than 10k followers during the first two years, and now he has more than 41k followers, all accumulated within 6-7 years. However, it's not just about the number of followers. It's also important to attract the right audience that is genuinely interested in the posted content and engaged with it.

After posting random photos during gym sessions, I later started posting photos taken during my holiday trips,” says Khan.

As an influencer, selecting the perfect location for a brand promotion or photoshoot is also important. For Khan, it's all about finding a destination that aligns with the brand's values and image, while also being visually appealing to his followers. Over the years, he has been fortunate enough to travel to some of the most stunning destinations in the world, including Switzerland, Paris, London, Venice, Dubai, Barcelona, Lisbon, and the Netherlands.

As an influencer, I am constantly looking for brands that align with my values and interests. I love working with companies that offer sustainable, eco-friendly products or promote a healthy lifestyle,” says Khan.

Apart from menswear, Khan is open to partnering with other brands too. Khan is also a professional digital marketing pro doing business as a freelancer, and holds a Master's degree in digital marketing. His hobbies include fitness, travelling, cooking, and shopping online. In the gym, his favourite workouts include chest and back exercises.

Khan believes that, as a result of influencer marketing, brands can leverage the influence and reach of social media influencers to promote their brands, services, and products.
