Nomi Health Appoints Health Innovation Leader to Oversee Government Markets Expansion

Sara Ratner leverages over two decades of experience in health policy to lead direct healthcare company’s government programs, public partnerships

Direct health care company Nomi Health today announced the appointment of President of Government Programs Sara Ratner, whose background across health care policy, innovation and regulation accelerates the company’s growth in its mission to make the highest quality health care more accessible and affordable for communities nationwide.

In her role, Ratner helps oversee Nomi Health’s government programs business across the country, enabling the company to take action on health care spend data, run payments more directly, and expand access to care to communities most in need. Reporting to Nomi Health Founder and CEO Mark Newman, Ratner’s cross-functional understanding of health care, policy and law is a key asset in enabling government organizations to affect real change in health care cost and access. Her work builds on Nomi’s partnerships with more than 10 states and counties during the pandemic to deliver quality COVID-19 care to more than 15 million Americans, helping power many of the country’s most effective state pandemic responses.

“The status quo of our failing health care systems can no longer stand. Health care needs an overhaul. This requires bold leaders willing to break systemic norms that have resulted in bloat and waste, and new policies that support deep-rooted changes in how health care is paid for and delivered,” Newman said. “As we expand our partnerships at the local and federal levels, Sara’s health care leadership is critical to our ability to continue making real dents in care access and costs nationwide.”

Ratner joins Nomi Health after serving on the executive team of health care company Icario. She previously was an executive advisor to venture-backed organizations to develop Medicare and Medicaid program strategies for emerging markets, leveraging CMS and state frameworks to generate opportunities for program development and expansion, and she held executive positions at RedBrick Health and Prime Therapeutics. Earlier in her career, Ratner served as general counsel and vice president of strategic partnerships and human resources at CVS CareMark, where she joined the leadership team that grew the MinuteClinic division. She is also co-founder and board director of Proximal Health, a health care insurance and technology platform that helps members receive and pay for quality care. Ratner received her law degree from St. Louis University and holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

“Nomi Health is turning the traditional health care system on its head to create meaningful change that positively impacts people and communities from national to regional to hyperlocal,” Ratner said. “I look forward to being part of a team with both the expertise and the boldness required to redefine the norms of care access and costs.”
