Annual Awards Program Recognizes Innovation in the Global Life Science and Biotechnology Industries

DNAnexus, Inc., provider of the leading enterprise platform for precision health data, today announced that the DNAnexus-built UK Biobank Research Analysis Platform has been selected as the BioInformatics Solution of the Year in the fourth annual BioTech Breakthrough Awards program. The awards program is conducted by BioTech Breakthrough, a leading independent market intelligence organization that evaluates and recognizes standout life science and biotechnology companies, products, and services around the globe.

The cloud-based, DNAnexus-built UK Biobank Research Analysis Platform is the only environment for approved researchers to access and analyze the latest information in the UK Biobank’s vast database, which currently includes more than 30 petabytes of de-identified health and lifestyle information and whole-genome sequencing data from 500,000 participants. It was designed to accommodate the increasing scale of the UK Biobank resource and to enable scientists to collaborate globally in a secure environment. Today, more than 30,000 approved researchers from at least 90 countries are using the data to identify genetic variants associated with diseases and drive the discovery of new diagnostics, treatments, and cures.
