Unwind and Explore: A Journey on the Good Neighbor Trail

By: Get News

Nestled in the heart of Florida, Brooksville boasts one of Florida’s best paths for cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts – the Good Neighbor Trail. Celebrating its completion and closing a gap in the Coast to Coast Trail, the Good Neighbor Trail offers a smooth, paved ride perfect for a leisurely cruise or an invigorating workout.

This bike trail offers over 10 miles of scenic pedaling from downtown Brooksville, under tree canopies and through rural landscapes. It also weaves through Tom Varn Park, where cyclists can take a break and enjoy a picnic amidst lush greenery.

The beauty of the Good Neighbor Trail extends beyond its picturesque setting – It also serves as a vital link in Florida’s extensive network of bike trails. This trail network, known as the Coast-to-Coast Trail, connects approximately 250 miles of Florida’s bike trails from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean.

Heading east from Brooksville, the Good Neighbor Trail follows the historic route of the Florida Southern Railroad and connects with the Withlacoochee State Trail. This path offers over 40 miles of scenic exploration through lush forests and pristine wilderness. From there riders have access to even more trails further east, leading to Titusville on the Atlantic Ocean.

Taking the Good Neighbor Trail west brings cyclists to the Suncoast Trail, with 42 miles to explore. More connected trails take cyclists to Pinellas County where sun-kissed beaches await, such as Honeymoon Island, Treasure Island, and Fort Desoto Beach.
