-- The competitions of the King’s Camel Racing’s Festival 2025, organized by Saudi Camel Federation on the grounds of the historic Janadriyah Camel Square in Riyadh, will be held from January 27 to February 5, with cash prizes exceeding 70 million riyals.
The second edition of the festival, which will be held by the festival’s organizing committee, will witness 225 rounds, in which the camel categories approved by the Saudi Camel Federation will cover a distance of 1266 km, as the competitions will kick off with the “Hagayeg” category rounds, which will have 64 rounds, in which the camels will cover a distance of (256 km) for each run. (4 km).
The "Lagaya" category, which consists of 54 rounds, in which camels cover a distance of (270 km), each round is (5 km), the "Jezaa" category, which consists of 44 rounds, in which camels cover a distance of (264 km), each round is (6 km), the "Thanaya" category, which consists of 32 rounds, in which camels cover a distance of (256 km), each round is (8 km), and the "Heel and Zoomool" category, which consists of 24 rounds, in which camels cover a distance of (192 km), each round is (8 km).
The fifth day of the programme also includes a camel race for men and women, with 5 rounds for men covering a distance of 25 km, distance of each round (5 km), and two rounds for women, distance of each round 2 km.
For its part, the Federation and the Organizing Committee have completed all preparations and special arrangements at the historic Janadriyah Camel Square, as part of the Federation’s efforts, headed by His Highness Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, holding camel races and preserving this great cultural heritage, as well as raising this sport to international standards in line with the “Kingdom 2030” vision, in addition to governance and managing camel races, providing services to the Camel Squares and owners, and providing them with the ideal environment to practice this authentic sport.
On the other hand, the champions of the “Heel and Zoomool” category cup rounds will receive cash prizes ranging from (2-2.5 million) riyals, which are the largest prizes for the champions of the festival rounds, as 5 categories are participating in the festival, approved to participate in the rounds.
The value of the prizes for the regular rounds of the participating camel categories starts from 60 thousand riyals for the champion, and the total prizes for one regular round are 188 thousand riyals, and 38.3 million riyals is the total prizes for the 204 rounds, not counting the 20 cup rounds in the championship.
The prizes for the top five winners in the two rounds of the “Heel” category cup amount of 8.2 million riyals, starting from 2.5 million for the champion, 700 thousand riyals for the second, 400 thousand riyals for the third, 300 thousand riyals for the fourth, and 200 thousand riyals for the fifth, while the prizes for the top five winners in the two rounds of the “Zoomool” category cup amount of 6.2 million riyals, starting from 2 million riyals for the champion, 500 thousand riyals for the second, 300 thousand riyals for the third, 200 thousand riyals for the fourth, and 100 thousand riyals for the fifth, and the value of the prizes for the top five places in the camel cup races for the following categories: Hagayeg, Lagaya, Jezaa, and Thanaya is 25.6 million riyals, at a rate of 1.6 million riyals for each category cup race, starting from 850 thousand riyals for the champion, 300 thousand riyals for the second, 200 thousand riyals for the third, 150 thousand riyals for the fourth, and 100 thousand riyals for the fifth.
On the other hand, the value of the prizes for the “human rider” rounds is 1.3 million riyals, with 940,000 riyals being the total prizes allocated for men in the four rounds, and 376,000 riyals the total prizes for the women’s races, where the first-place camel in the men’s and women’s races will receive 60,000 riyals. The tenth-place holder will receive 10,000 riyals.
The organizing committee had begun last Monday the registration procedures for those wishing to participate in the festival, and the registration procedure will be concluded next Saturday, through the Federation’s system, as no participant will be accepted for registration after the end of the specified registration period, while the committee revealed on the 11th of this month the timetable. for festival.
It is worth noting that the first edition of the festival last year witnessed the participation of more than 2,000 camel owners with 6,869 camels, while the number of participating countries reached 13: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, the United States of America, Germany, Iran, France, Jordan, Britain, and Yemen.
