Dr. Jasvant Modi Supports Valedictory Session of ISJS’s 15-Day Online Workshop on Brahmi Script

The International School for Jain Studies hosted its 15-day Brahmi Script workshop with participants from across the globe.

The International School for Jain Studies (ISJS) proudly concluded its 15-day online workshop on Brahmi Script, which took place from July 30 to August 13, 2024. This educational initiative brought together over sixty participants from the USA, China, Thailand, and India, all eager to delve into the ancient art of reading and writing Brahmi Script.

The workshop was met with enthusiasm and high levels of engagement, with participants expressing their satisfaction and eagerness to continue exploring other ancient Indian scripts and the Prakrit language. The program’s success was further highlighted during the valedictory session, where participants shared positive feedback and praised the interactive and practice-oriented approach led by Dr. Mukesh Mehta, Research Associate at ISJS.

Dr. Shrinetra Pandey, Acting Director of ISJS, addressed the closing session, commending the participants for their dedication and Dr. Mehta for his exceptional instruction. The session also received a special visit from Dr. Jasvant Modi, President of the Vardhaman Charitable Foundation, USA. Dr. Modi offered his best wishes to the participants and applauded the workshop’s efforts in preserving and promoting ancient Indian scripts.

The workshop, conducted entirely online in English, consisted of daily 75-minute sessions, providing ample practice opportunities that allowed participants to achieve a deep understanding of the Brahmi Script. The overwhelming interest and success of the program highlight the growing global curiosity and commitment to preserving and learning ancient Indian languages and scripts.
