BK Adventure’s newest gives guests an unobstructed view of the Indian River Lagoon and its tributaries, as well as the unusual species that live there, from manatees and dolphins to horseshoe crabs and jellyfish. The Indian River Lagoon is considered America’s most biologically diverse estuary, with over 2000 animal species. Wading birds are especially common, including grebes, anhinga, ducks, and brown pelicans.
BK Adventure’s newly announced tour in Kiwanis Island Park also allows for remarkable views of the Florida sunset while clients relax atop calm waters as falcons, eagles – and even white pelicans on occasion – soar above and dolphins swim below.
This tour is presently available on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Dolphins are active all year and are most active at two periods of the day – in the morning and at sunset. The breeding season for Florida birds is usually in the spring, and guests can often spot them along one of the park’s coves. Cormorants, pelicans, herons, and roseate spoonbills are among the birds regularly seen.
Other offerings include clear kayaking tours at Cocoa Beach and a wildlife refuge. Depending on the season, guests can see bioluminescent dinoflagellates or bioluminescent comb jellies, making the water sparkle and glow.
BK Adventure Eco-Tours was founded by Ram and Sandra Bishwokarma. Ram is a Nepalese whitewater kayaking instructor and climbing leader who previously ran Hardcore Nepal, one of the country’s most successful extreme adventure enterprises. Ram spent years working at a Florida eco-safari, learning about the natural world in his adopted home, before combining his love of kayaking with his deep understanding of the wild to create his own Florida Eco-Tours at BK Adventure.
