Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure
On May 25, 2016, Microsoft Corporation (the Company) announced plans to streamline the companys smartphone hardware business. This will result in the reduction of up to 1,850 positions, with 1,350 of the reductions to come at Microsoft Mobile Oy in Finland. In the quarter ending June 30, 2016 Microsoft will record an impairment and restructuring charge of approximately $950 million, of which approximately $200 million will relate to severance payments. The actions associated with todays announcement are expected to be substantially complete by the end of the calendar year and fully completed by July 2017, the end of the companys next fiscal year.
