Veritone and Microsoft to Co-Host Panel of Law Enforcement Leaders Discussing Agency Transparency Strategies and How Technology Can Help

Veritone, Inc. (NASDAQ: VERI):

WHAT:

Veritone and Microsoft will be co-hosting “US Law Enforcement Agency Transparency & How Technology Can Help: A Virtual Panel.” Earlier this year, Veritone commissioned a national survey which included a wide-ranging set of questions regarding transparency and the use of technology by the country’s law enforcement agencies (LEAs). The findings from this survey have been recently published.

Moderated by Joel Shults, a former Chief of Police in Colorado, and Kirk Lonbom, Director of Public Safety and Justice Strategy at Microsoft and a former CIO for the state of Illinois, the panel of law enforcement leaders will weigh in on this report’s findings and discuss strategies for leveraging technology to improve transparency with the communities they serve.

WHO:

Panelists include:

  • Chief Steven Casstevens, Buffalo Grove, IL PD and past president of International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP)
  • Chief John Letteney, Thomasville, GA PD and incoming IACP president
  • Chief Jorge Cisneros, Anaheim, CA PD
  • Police Commissioner & Superintendent-in-Chief William Gross, Boston, MA PD

Jon Gacek, Head of Government, Legal & Compliance at Veritone, says, “Transparency between law enforcement agencies and the people they serve has never been at the forefront of mainstream conversations the way it is now. We’ve seen a huge uptick in agencies coming to us for help with implementing tools that enable them to deliver on the public’s call for greater transparency. The intent is there. But meeting the guidelines to deliver on these requests (for example, release bodycam footage without revealing personally identifiable information of victims or witnesses) requires hours and hours of manual labor. That’s a problem considering the results of our report show the public wants police spending more time on investigations. In exploring AI technology, we can help us establish healthy relationships between our communities and law enforcement.”
