Dellamarie Parrilli Releases New Book "Among the Stars - From Red Carpets to the Sidewalks in the Shadows"
Photographer and author reveals unseen and untold stories of Hollywood’s growing homeless population and highlights shocking contrasts with the red carpet world that exists on the same streets

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - August 22, 2024 - Photographer and Author Dellamarie Parrilli, today announced the release of her latest book, “Among the Stars - From Red Carpets to the Sidewalks in the Shadows,” a compassionate and revealing juxtaposition between fame and fortune. The book offers an intimate portrayal of life on the streets of Hollywood, captured through the lens of Parrilli's iPhone during the isolation of the pandemic. Her vantage point was six stories above the iconic intersection of Hollywood and Vine. She documented the daily lives of the homeless in sharp contrast with local celebrities.

“This is not a book about homelessness,” explained Parrilli. “It is an exploration of the strength, resilience, and dignity that persist, despite adversities faced by those living on the streets of Hollywood.” Parrilli captures the human and the spiritual that most people never really see. The photos show who is behind the cardboard and living in the tents.

Parrilli is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Los Angeles. Her unique style has earned her numerous awards, and her artworks are in private and corporate collections around the world. In her foreword to "Among the Stars," she reflects, "What the eye does not see, the heart cannot feel. I trust that through my eyes, others may see. The pandemic gave new meaning to the topic. From my sixth-floor loft, I watched fame, fortune, and the forgotten in the shadows among the stars.”

“Exploring Hollywood's dichotomy, my photos reveal the harsh reality of homelessness, shedding light on the contrasting facets of humanity in the heart of the entertainment capital,” said Parrilli.

"Among The Stars" will be available for purchase next week on major book platforms, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble and BookBaby. Parrilli has designated all net proceeds to be donated to, “homeless humans and homeless pets.”
