A Book That Speaks Truth to Power

By: WebWire

“Racist Bones in President Trump's Body” is a collection of social and political commentaries by M. P. Prabhakaran. Pointing to the topics and provocative nature of some of those commentaries, his friends used to tell him, “Why bother, if they don't affect you in any way.” He has cited this in the “Preface” to the book.

His response, he says in the same “Preface,” has always been that throughout history, the powers that be got away with the horrible things they did because of the “why bother” attitude of the public at large. He would emphasize the point by reminding his friends of Martin Niemöller's immortal words: “When the Nazis arrested the Communists, I said nothing: after all, I was not a Communist. … When they arrested me, there was no longer anyone who could protest.”

This book is Prabhakaran's way of speaking truth to power.
