The avant-garde artist Apostoly Peter Kouroumalis, also known by his pen name Toly A.K., paves the way for outlandish individuals. Toly A.K. has had some success with a film called “Ascension” that he screened in the Cannes short film category, and his film work is currently being toured around Canada for two years in a program called “Under New Management.” His experimental films are available at the Cinematheque Quebecois, and the Bibliothèque Nationale carries some of his publications.
“The Book” is a compendium to the artwork of Toly A.K. in a brief overview discussing themes, ideas, and ideologies of paint, music, and film work. Toly A.K. lost his best friend in a rape-slay incident, and he has lived in constant turmoil since then. His art has become an expression for him.
