Dr. Norman Hall's “Back Roads of My Memory” Displayed in ALA Annual Conference and Exhibition 2022

By: WebWire

The book “Back Roads of My Memory” by Dr. Norman Hall was displayed by ReadersMagnet at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference and Exhibition on June 24-27, 2022, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington DC.

Taking a trip down memory lane can introduce one to many emotions. It requires strength to look back on someone's failures and gratitude as one recalls a moment of victory. Texas-based writer Dr. Norman Hall tenderly welcomes both in his true-to-life collection of short stories. Now in his late nineties, Dr. Norman relives his bountiful life as he ponders the hallmarks of his memories, starting as a young country boy.

In “Back Roads of My Memory,” Dr. Norman lovingly recalls what makes his life a worthwhile adventure. He does this by using biting wit, humor, and vivid imagery of living on a ranch. Dr. Norman's book paints a mesmerizing picture of embracing life as he reminisces on the hallmarks of his boyhood all the way back to the early nineties. This includes learning an essential part of Mexican life and culture as he played with Mexican children. The book is complete with his Army experiences and dynamic years as a school administrator. Dr. Norman's remembrance of dating life in the 1920s and 1930s serves as the book's icing on the cake.

For Dr. Norman's readers, the book is more than just a memoir; it is a love letter to the past that is worth living through again, even in the corners of one's heart and memory. It foretells that despite experiencing a plethora of misses and what-ifs, living is a beautiful gift.

This book gives Dr. Hall's readers an enlightening and entertaining perspective on growing up in early Central Texas. Dr. Hall's words are a testament that a humble setting is not a hindrance to someone's having memories worth keeping.
