2024 HFSA CME Symposium - From Evidence to Practice: Treating Iron Deficiency with Intravenous Iron in Heart Failure

By: PRLog

This CME Symposium takes place on Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 5:30 - 6:30 PM ET during the 2024 Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) Annual Scientific Meeting at the Signia by Hilton Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia in the Triumph Ballroom G.

HAZLET, N.J. - Aug. 12, 2024 - PRLog -- In this educational initiative, to take place at the 2024 Heart Failure Society of America annual meeting, attendees will be provided with information on the detrimental impact of ID in patients with HF, tests for screening for ID, a definition to determine a diagnosis of ID, and evidence demonstrating the benefits achieved with IV iron therapy. A case study will focus on overcoming challenges in HF patient care with multidisciplinary teamwork, following best practices outlined in an expert-generated algorithm published in a scientific statement from the Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA).

The educational objectives include:

  • Recognize the deleterious consequences of iron deficiency, with or without anemia, in HF
  • Describe the importance of regular screening for iron deficiency in HF patients
  • Identify the drawbacks of, and explain evidence associated with oral iron supplementation for treating iron deficiency in HF
  • Interpret clinical evidence with intravenous iron therapy for iron deficiency in patients with HF
  • Identify potential challenges to diagnosing and treating iron deficiency in HF patients and recognize the effective contributions made by multi-disciplinary healthcare personnel in addressing these challenges
